Game updates

  • Feature: Added two sound special effects
    • Sound dampening effect when underwater
    • Reverb effect when in caves, or other large mostly enclosed spaces made of reverbing material (rock, brick, metal)
  • Feature: Second secret mob now mostly complete and spawning. A few fixes and spawn reduction to the other secret mob.
  • Tweak: 15 new types of blankets for the Elk
  • Tweak: Drifters are no longer as accurate in throwing stones. Drifter spawn quantity also reduced.
  • Tweak: Improve SSAO quality, particularly the high quality setting
  • Tweak: Intensified storm debris particles
  • Tweak: Add more waypoint suggestions
  • Tweak: Can now do use "toggle" for boolean client config values, e.g. .clientconfig sedi toggle
  • Tweak: Can now set LodBiasFar in the graphics settings
  • Tweak: Don't message box the player on thread crash on exit, just log a warning.

  • Fixed: Helmets now hide hoods, scale armor helmets did not align well with eyes, plus various other clipping and texture issues with clothing and armor.
  • Fixed: Bow release sound sometimes not playing
  • Fixed: pumpkin carving did not work on servers if the server was last started before october
  • Fixed: Worldedit rotate did not work properly for buckets, flowerpot and the watering can
  • Fixed: Z-Fighting on distant decor and overlays like moss, wallpaper, paint, plaster, etc
  • Fixed: Exception thrown on server when stepping on a chiseled block made of a missing block material
  • Fixed: Sound error logged rarely related to wind sounds
  • Fixed several issues with non-player entities mounting beds
  • 1.20 related changes
    • Fixed: Locusts walking upside down in some cases
    • Tweak: Rename new "grey" bricks and shingles to "gray". Also correct some en.json occurrences of "grey".  Since these new blocks have existed only in pre versions, no remap will be provided for "grey" to "gray".  Only the old "blue" items to "gray".
    • Fixed: Incandescence glow issues on some things
    • Fixed: Some Clay/Brick/Shingle blocks from 1.19 turned into unknown blocks in 1.20
    • Fixed: Creatures placed from creative inventory were always looking right instead of facing the player
    • Fixed: Water striders spawning inside non-air blocks
    • Fixed: Rollers not consumed on placement
    • Fixed: 1.20 Game crash, probably when throwing stones
    • Fixed: SSAO on grassy soil completely gone
    • Fixed: Brown and red bricks were still hidden from the handbook
    • Fixed: /serverconfig setspawnhere not working
  • API Tweak: Do not play the default idle animation on any creature if some other "BlendMode=Average" animation runs. To modders that add entities with animations: You will want to set your standard walk and run animations to BlendMode: "Average"

Game updates

  • Feature: A brand new really big and really rare ruin
  • Feature: Elk ownership system. Attach the medallion to the elk to claim ownership. Can only own one elk at a time. Ownership allows you to see your elk on the map, see its current health and you can call the elk to you using the bone flute.
  • Feature: Added full range of new fired clay colors to shingles.  Different shingle colors can be made in the beehive kiln, in the same manner as bricks.
  • Feature: Added 'scratched white paint' decor overlay block (creative mode only)
  • Tweak: Waypoint list command can now output a detailed view /waypoint list details/d
  • Tweak: Reduced startup time on certain savegames (Technical info: Greatly improve performance of the block registering/remapping system for savegames with a very high max block id count. E.g. from 6 seconds to 2 seconds. Achieved by greatly reducing the amount of calls to Array.Resize on a very large array)
  • Removed: Obsolete notice printed to log file on linux dedicated server authserver connection issues
  • Tweak: added new /we importl <filename> command to import large schematics, this command will not be revert-abel but is a lot faster for very large schematics, further if you select the import tool and choose Replace Mode: Replace all no air it will make the import even faster (ideally there are no block in the area you want to import it into)
  • Fixed: In schematics, when rotated, cave art (and other subdecors) now also rotate correctly
  • Fixed: Schematics above size 511x511x511 would not import properly, now the full 1024x1024x1024 size is working (for large schematics you may use /we importl <filename> command)
  • Fixed: Runaway block and item mapping list growth in very old savegames in rare cases, causing very long load times and increased RAM usage
  • Fixed: Support beams stability not properly saved, likely completely breaking the stability support beams provide for unstable rock
  • API tweak: BlockUpdate and DecorUpdate classes modified to accommodate subpositions (=cave art)
  • API Tweak: Added CollectibleBehavior.OnCreatedByCrafting
  • API Tweak: DiscDepositGenerator.absAvgQuantity is now public
  • API Tweak: Improve performance of SearchBlocks() by 2%
1.20 related changes
  • Continued work on the riding system
    • Tweak: Elks now must have a bridle to be able to turn left/right
    • Fixed: Elk animations frozen after taking fall damage
    • Fixed: Able to mount and ride a mortally wounded elk
    • Fixed: Elk running away right after reviving
    • Fixed/Tweak: Allow mounting of tamed elk when right clicking with empty hands on any empty selection box
    • Fixed: Unable to properly attack a tamed elk with a melee weapon
  • Continued work on the sail boat
    • Tweak: Boat seats are now wood-typed, and have a grid recipe.  Accessory boat seat height reduced.
    • Tweak: Improved handbook entries for shipbuilding and sailboats
    • Fixed: Able to place non-working trunk on sailboat
    • Fixed: Launched sail boat getting stuck at the beach. Made boat construction site not pushable. Rollers were missing grid recipe.
  • Continued work on the brick overhaul
    • Tweak: Fireclay now also naturally spawns in bauxite gravel, in addition to bauxite sand
    • Tweak: Revised textures and models for bricks items and piles. Also added clinker bricks raw blue clay bricks at max ventilation now produce 'clinker' bricks. Clinker bricks do not yet have recipes or product blocks.
    • Tweak: Beehive kiln door now uses the correct mouse-modifiers from the settings Ctrl-click and Shift-click to show/hide the  multiblock structure
    • Tweak: Doubled price paid for fire clay by artisan trader. Commodities trader now sells fire clay. Raised average cost of fire clay bricks sold by Building Materials trader by 37%
    • Tweak: Removed blue clay bricks from stack randomizer
    • Tweak: Remove old versions of blue/red/brown brick slabs, stairs, chimneys, and blocks.  Should now be remapped to new versions.
    • Tweak: Changed some guide links in the handbook that pointed to blue clay, to point to red clay, since it is now more common.
    • Tweak: Slate roofing grid recipes now accept any clay
    • Tweak: Daub grid recipes previously mostly used fire clay. Now mostly use red clay
    • Tweak: Stone coffin and beehive kiln now show a block interaction help only when incomplete
    • Fixed: Not able to bake flint in firepit
  • Tweak: Worldedit Move tool now automatically creates a new preview when a button is pressed
  • Tweak: Spawn numbers of surface version of the new mob greatly reduced
  • Tweak: Now that knockback is working properly reduced knockback strength of all enemies by a factor of 2

  • Fixed: Spoilage rate of a freshly placed container was incorrectly displayed on its contents and food lasted 1 to 2 times longer than in 1.19

  • Fixed: Game crashing when on /land claim end and world edit selection where one of the x/y/z sizes is zero. Now logs an error instead.

  • Fixed: Rare startup worldgen issue for new 1.20 story locations in older savegames
  • Fixed: Rare shutdown exceptions if items did not load properly during startup due to some earlier issue
  • Fixed: If the user settings have shift/ctrl mouse modifiers not locked to sneak/sprint, then using shift+right click with a knife to scrape a carcass should work with shift even if Sneak was re-bound; similar issues for shift-rotate with wrench, shift-click to override default orientation of sticks layer when placing; shift-click to insert Hydraulic Pump components; shift-click during boat construction and beam placement; book; roller; and Base Return teleporter
  • Fixed: Linebreaks broken in the first launch info
  • Fixed: Activity system: Don't crash if there is no task ai
  • Fixed: First person hand turn smoothing applied differently depending on dynamic shadows setting
  • Fixed: Placing 16 and 20 Saddlebags did not change amount of available inventory space
  • Fixed: Fur coat hood showing through cloak hoods

  • Fixed: A* Bug - Entities running in circles on halfslabs
  • 1.20.0 related changes
    • Tweak: Added handbook entries for tamed animals, and sailboat construction.  Fixed some typos.
    • Tweak: Removed a few lore sensitive items from the creative inventory
    • Fixed: Red clay caused crash when trying to place for clayforming
    • Fixed: Metal trapdoors were material: wood. Also made the undamaged solid and grated iron trapdoors craftable.
    • Fixed: Fire clay bricks were firing into the red brick finished colors in the beehive kiln, and red bricks didn't fire.
    • Fixed: Chromium hide recipes did not work.
    • Fixed: Rotwalker coat and marketeer tunic caused player to not be animated
    • Fixed: Wearing mixed armor caused the textures to become all garbled
    • Fixed: Game crashing when pressing CTRL while mounted
    • Fixed: Game only showing Black screen on some graphics cards
    • Fixed: Players getting kicked from a server in laggy conditions
    • Fixed: Held item did not drop shadows
